Master CEMS - Community of European Management School
Bocconi University, together with ESADE, HEC and Universität zu Köln, is one of the founding member of the
Community of European Management Schools and its membership in the CEMS is an important part of the
Student Exchange Program.
In fact, Bocconi University hosts every year almost 70 CEMS Exchange Students plus nearly 70 students
participating in the Program of International Management (PIM) which contributes to the creation of an
international environment.

Master of Business Administration
The MBA Programme is like a journey that proceeds by stages from discovery to discovery. As participants
gain new knowledge it enriches and integrates what they already know in an exciting process of individual and
professional growth.
The course extends over 16 months (from September to December of the following year)
• 10 months dedicated to classroom activity in two separate language sections (Italian, English or both) with a
common curriculum: Pillars, Functional Management and General Management;
• 6 months dedicated to individual Itineraries, elective routes chosen by the participants - with help from the
faculty -based on an analysis of their aptitudes and results achieved in the first stage of the MBA. In this
module both Italian and English are used without distinction in all three sections.
At the end of their journey, participants will find that the horizon of their opportunities to assume important
roles in the international business world has become surprisingly broad.
A global manager must be flexible and responsible, open and impelling, creative and charismatic. He or she
must know how to work with method, to elaborate global vision, to devise strategies and to take risks.
The MBA Programme is structured to develop these characteristics through a considerable dose of classroom
teaching. Participants can thus assimilate, together with the notions and values on which management is
founded, also the capacity to relate correctly and effectively with colleagues and teachers in a professional
context.
The MBA is characterized also by the continuous exchange of ideas between teachers and students. Exchange
through case discussions, computer simulations, the elaboration of interfunctional projects and in-company
projects all trigger an active learning process.
The habit of interacting with teachers, professionals and organizations guarantees that participants develop
the open-mindedness indispensable for dealing effectively with the world of business.

European Masters in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness
University of Siena in cooperation with the Centro di Specializzazione e Ricerche Economico-Agrarie per il
Mezzogiorno (C.S.R.E.A.M.), Portici-Napoli.
European Masters postgraduate courses are held in Portici (Naples) at the C.S.R.E.A.M. (Centre of
Specialization and Research in Agricultural Economics for Southern Italy). Here, courses are taught in Italian.
The Department of Political Economy of the University of Siena will organize each academic year a two-week
summer school (2 credits) on European Agro-Food Policy at the Certosa di Pontignano. This course will start in
1996 and is taught in English. This summer school provides students with a synoptical analysis and appraisal of
current agricultural policy problems facing the European Union and other European countries. At the end of the
course the participants have to do a written exam. The weekend in between students and staff will visit farms,
cooperatives and food-processing firms in Tuscany. This is an excellent opportunity for European Masters
students from all participating institutions to meet and to exchange ideas. If desired and approved of by the
respective institutions it may be included in a student's European Masters programme.
Advanced courses in economics (taught in Italian or English) are offered in the PhD programme, with
contributions from the Universities of Siena, Florence and Pisa, coordinated by Prof. Frank Hahn. Content and
material of these courses are available on request. The course may be included in a European Masters
programme after approval by the respective institutions. The credit value of each course is yet to be determined.
Siena is a city with approximately 61,000 inhabitants situated in hilly countryside in the heart of Tuscany. The
city was founded by Etruscans, but it reached the zenith of its power between the 13th and 16th century, when it
became an artistic and economic centre of great international importance. The University of Siena celebrated its
750th anniversary in the academic year 1990/91. At present the University of Siena consists of nine faculties.
The total number of students is approximately 12,000, 4,000 of whom come from Siena and the surrounding
districts; the others from other areas of Italy or abroad.
The C.S.R.E.A.M. is a relatively young institution: it was established in 1959 as a joint venture of the University
of Naples and the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno (a government agency responsible for the enactment of the
development policy in Southern Italy), aiming at cooperating through higher specialized education and scientific
research. Since 1984 the 'Centro' has been an autonomous public research institute subsidized by the Ministry
of Agriculture, Food and Forest Resources. Thanks to a special agreement with the University of Naples
"Frederico II" it operates within the University College of Agriculture in Portici, in cooperation with the
Department of Agricultural Economics and Policy. Portici is a medium-sized town about 15 km south of Naples.
The main activities of the centre are research and postgraduate education in agricultural economics and policy.
Research activity, which is mainly applied research in nature, covers also themes and issues of general
development economics and of statistical methodology and it is often conducted in cooperation with other Italian
and European institutions. At present, the main educational activity is the Masters programme in Agricultural
Economics and Policy, to which a limited number (10-15) of graduate students is admitted. Furthermore, a
number of seminars and conferences on special topics are offered.
Each student is offered an individual work place and general services(phone, fax, use of photocopier etc.) (within
limits). His (her) daily presence is also appreciated outside the regular curricular activities. The same provisions
apply to foreign candidates of the European Masters Certificate.
