Budapest University of Economic Sciences

In this Faculty the structure of training in the business specialization mirrors the curriculum followed in American and West European business schools. Basically, the subjects taught in this specialization are:
- accounting
- corporate finance
- corporation law
- management information systems
- marketing
- operations management
- organization and management
- strategic management

Within the framework of the compulsory subjects all students (yearly about 500) learn the basic elements of the fields listed. They are provided with more detailed, deeper knowledge and professional expertise in the following majors: accounting, finance, information management, international economics and business, management and organization, marketing, operations management and logistics, public policy and management. It is compulsory to choose one of these. In making this choice the student at the same time determines the field for his or her degree thesis: the dissertation must be written on a theme relating to this specialization. The so-called additional specialization's (minors) taught introduce students to various sub-fields of practical business management. Among these we can mention:
- agricultural economics
- business ethics
- business evaluation
- defense economics
- economic decisions
- economics of tourism
- environmental economics
- international logistics
- managerial decision support
- managerial economics
- marketing communication
- service management
- sport management
- the setting-up and management of small enterprises
- transportation and telecommunication
Both the structure of the teaching given and the content of the individual subjects provide
theoretical and methodological foundations for the most up-to-date business knowledge. With
regular visits from entrepreneurs and managers, and the analysis of case studies that illustrate
Hungarian and international practice, the specialized course gradually prepares students for
practical life and helps to develop their creativity.

The Faculty runs a Ph.D. program in Management since 1993. Currently there are 54 students in the program.
