MASTER'S PROGRAM IN COMPUTATIONAL FINANCE
Computational Finance
Modern financial institutions continuously
develop and routinely use very advanced analytical, statistical and
numerical techniques in order to create new
and to price existing financial instruments. Advanced quantitative
techniques are used in the continuos trading
of financial instruments as well as in risk management and risk
monitoring. As a consequence there is a growing
demand for knowledge in the area of quantitative finance and new intellectual
standards are set for the study of finance and the analysis of financial
markets.
Computational Finance applies the most appropriate
features of computer science, statistics, and mathematics to
the problems of finance. Sophisticated and
computationally intensive mathematical and statistical techniques for the
analysis of real-time financial market data and real-time portfolio management
are now available in the modern computerized world. This has opened up
new opportunities as well as new challenges in computational finance for
portfolio management, hedging, speculative international trading and financial
decisions.
The Master's Program
Computational Finance is a one-year Master's
program organized by the Swedish School of Economics
and Business Administration (Hanken) on cooperation
with the University of Vaasa. The program strives
to provide a master's degree of high international

required knowledge in order to meet the quantitative
computational challenges of the future.

MASTER'S PROGRAM IN REAL ESTATE FINANCE
Real Estate Finance
The Real Estate sector accounts usually for
a significant proportion of a country´s national wealth. In the Nordic
countries, the real estate sector is currently transforming into a deregulated,
international business sector. A central development of the field is the
securitization of real estate ownership in the form of e.g. REIT's. There
is thus an urgent demand for professionals in the field. Real estate financial
analysts and managers will be needed both in the field of financial services
as well as in the real estate industry itself. There also an urgent need
for re-education of people from the construction and real estate sector.
The field of real estate offers an interesting
and challenging area for the application of modern financial tools. E.g.
real estate investment decisions typically include different forms of real
options that need to be evaluated. Real estate finance deals about how
advances from modern finance theory can be applied on this area where the
investment objects may be very heterogeneous, and differ in terms of liquidity
and transparency from many other marketable securities.
The Master's Program
Real Estate Finance is a one-year Master's
program organized by the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration
(Hanken). The program strives to provide a master's degree of international
standards and quality that give the students the required knowledge to
work both in the property market field and in the field of financial intermediation.
As teachers on the program, we have engaged leading international professors
in real estate and finance.
How to Apply
Applications to the Master's program in Real
Estate Finance are made using the Application form. For program requirements,

Turku School of Economics & Business Administration
MBA
The Board of the Turku School of Economics
and Business Administration initiated the planning of an executive level
management education program at the beginning of 1991, to eventually lead
to an MBA qualification. Planning and coordination with the School’s professors
was left to the former Center for Continuing Education, and the Executive
Education Section in particular. As a result of the planning task, a proposal
for the Executive MBA was presented to the Board in the following spring,
1992. The first module of the eMBA structure, i.e. the International Executive
Program, started in January, 1992.
The Executive MBA Program at the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration is an internationally oriented package of executive education programs. The eMBA Program takes previous management education programs into account, and the tuition is given in English. In principle, participants should have an academic degree (bachelors or masters), but non-academic participants can be considered for participation on the basis of alternative supporting merits.
The Executive MBA Program at the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration is an officially accreddited eMBA programme. The programme has been accredited by the Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council in June 1999.
Objectives of the program
Provide new management competencies, especially
in the management of the international business environment. Create a comprehensive
view of the change forces of economic and political life in Europe and
the world. Provide new business knowledge of the changing international
business environment and help in creating a strategic perspective on international
trade. Provide new knowledge in finance and accounting in an international
setting. Develop competence to manage the process of transforming information
into knowledge and business opportunities. Provide new knowledge about
international marketing. Develop personal leadership skills.
